Hello,

we use a folder with a catolog value to difference between different types of that folder.
This works great, because the different types are all connect to each other.
So I can search for a single folder kind and I get all types of this folder which are connected.

98% of the data in the different folder types is the same.
But 2% of the data only belongs to a single type.

Is it possible to change the form scripting so I can check the type and change the visibility of some data fields?

At the moment we just disable the irrelevant fields in set it to null.

However we want to introduce a new folder type and it is getting more and more confusing for the users. They will see more and more irrelevant fields.

So it would be great if this would be possible.

Thank you for your answer in advance,
schulerb

Hello schulerb,

we have been asked for this feature before and have discussed it thoroughly. Usually the requirement to hide fields in a form-script points to sub-optimal modelling of the objecttype scheme. It would be better to introduce a new objecttype than to have one type contain several "virtual" types. That and the big implmentation effort this would mean made us decide not to offer this feature. So it is not possible, sorry.

Hello Nicolai,

you are absolutly right, that the design is not optimal. But the time we designed it we did not have these kind of requirements. A solution would be a redesign, but that would be a lot of work to migrate the data und files.

So I think we have to live with the empty fields.

Thank you for your answer.
